Hey ya’ll!
I
had thought of “Take Me Out Back and Shoot Me" for the name of
this site... because I've told my sons for years that if I
ever became an embarrassment or burden to my family, just take me
out back and shoot me! Then I thought it over and decided I don't
like that title for my website..... maybe it will work for a
'book' for the grandkids. However I was having trouble
coming up with a name that works... and finally decided I like Karen's Korner! So here we are!
I have been encouraged to start writing down my thoughts
and remembrances while I still remember them! Since I already tend to
be a little ‘scattered” and my mind tends to shoot off in many
different directions at a time, this seemed like a good idea. My good
new/old friend Sharon, who, by the way is a very funny person, has
assured me that I am capable of doing this, with a lot of help from
her. My grand-daughter seems to think it’s a good idea too….she’s
afraid Grandma will forget before she gets to hear about my exciting
past!
My name is Karen Louise Badger Finley DeHaan. I am a
transplanted yankee living deep in the heart of Dixie. I was born in
Heuvelton, NY and the north country will forever remain “home” to me
even though I’ve been gone for 40 years. God has given me nearly 67
years on this earth and I hope to be blessed with many more before
going home. For the record….I’m just getting started living!
My
husband Steve and I have been married for 27 years. I have 2 sons, Greg
and Doug, and am the proud grandmother of 2 grandsons, Matt and Jordan,
and my dear granddaughter Ashley.
A few years ago I was
diagnosed with Hepatitis C, and that seemed to open the door to other
auto-immune diseases. I now am being challenged with lupus and Sjogrens
syndrome. If you know anything about lupus, you know you have lots of
‘down time’ which I will try to make good use of writing for my website.
Unfortunately there is also a side effect called ‘brain fog’ associated
with lupus. So that should make things interesting!
This is me and Roxie, one of our bichon frises. You can see
both of them in my Photos section, along with other favorite
photos!
